Have you ever wondered what meditation is?
I know, I know…it may seem like a silly question and a silly topic to talk about. But, to me and to a lot of us, meditation is hard. It’s difficult to connect because we all have that monkey mind that likes to stay busy with thinking thoughts and distracting us from connecting with that divine source that we have within. The good news is that you can learn how to meditate, and you can make it easy! The learning process is really all about what works best for you.
Before we dive right in – let’s first take a deep breath. Pause where you are and close your eyes for a moment. Breathe out all of your crazy thoughts…(really, try it!*) And, then…. breathe in all the love that exists for you.
Now, let’s talk about meditation.
What in the world is meditation? How do you start? How do you find your specific “method” of meditation?
The easiest way to explain meditation is by translating the word “meditation” into the word “being.” And, with that – we are asking a totally different question, which is…”how do I ‘be?'”
Get comfy and just breathe. Let your thoughts run and flow in and out of your mind, and just lay there – be still. In this moment, all you have to do is breathe! And, there it is. The learning process can be that simple. Try your best to keep your focus and attention centered on the current moment of your breath. This can last for ten seconds, thirty seconds, or maybe even a few minutes. Eyes open or closed, allow this beginning method to be the process of how you begin – how you grow and allow this mindful practice to assist you.
When we allow the distractions of our inner and outer world to slip away, the Universe can flow through us. It is entirely safe for us to let go of what we know and hold onto as people journeying through this crazy life when we are in a “being” state of mind. A lot of us may not realize it, but we tend to attach onto ideas, beliefs, and concepts that flow our way. However, meditation can teach us exactly how to flow with the Universe that exists within us.
Here are seven reasons why meditation can serve us along our life paths as we grow and learn together.
Do you struggle with trusting yourself? Trust is a huge part of life. It influences our relationships, our work life, our partnerships, and even our decision-making process. Settling into meditation can teach us to trust the feelings that we have within. As we move throughout life, our intuition and our truth will guide us along our life paths and entrust us with the truth that we are. This can aid us in creating our desires, and stepping on the right stones as we move forward in life. Don’t we all want to jump on the right rocks, rising into a place of pure joy? I know I do.
Even though some of us aren’t huge “thinkers,” we still all have a mind. Our mind curates ideas, thoughts, our creativity, knowledge, opinions, judgement, and all things that are linked to the mental capacity we have as human beings. This means, our mind just loves to run on the treadmill. And, sometimes, we need to sleep – our mind does. How would it feel if you never let your body stop walking? You would over-exhaust your energy and it wouldn’t feel too great. The more “zen” we can be internally, the more in alignment we can be with our Highest Self. And, our Highest Self only wants to gift us with the best realities that we have the ability to create! Imagine if each day you could just enjoy your life with peace, positivity, and joy rather than with crazy thoughts that spin your world in a million directions?
Have you ever been told that a healthy inside is what creates a healthy outside? It’s true. And, the more we can connect with our hearts and our inner world, the better physical reality we will have. In fact, our inner-self and outer-self are just not separate. Our thoughts and feelings create our reality because they influence us! More so, our beliefs do, too. When we meditate, the love and peace we can connect with will infuse our body with energy. Our thoughts influence the cells in our body, our organs, and the way we walk, talk, and exist in the world. If we are constantly being infused with peaceful ions of light, imagine the energy our body would be given! Imagine the peace we would always feel. How great would it be?
A lot of us want to find ourselves. We have a desire to discover our purpose, to learn about our lives, and to create lasting change in this world. In other words, we want to awaken and we want to create an awesome life. When we enter into meditation, we have the power to connect to the wisdom of the Universe and with our Higher Self. Our Higher Self is filled with endless wisdom and they wish to guide us along our path. And, more so, we can discover additional goodies about ourselves just by connecting with the light that we are within.

If you have no desire to meditate for internal reasons, silencing and relaxing yourself is a positive benefit just for your health. Stress, emotions, and negative thinking influences our body in a huge way. When we allow our body to just relax into a calm state, we allow ourselves to have a break. The body is constantly at work, and even if you aren’t infusing love into your body from your inner-world, giving yourself a break can be super beneficial for your overall health and wellbeing. When we are present each day, we are able to experience everything about our environment that is positive, well, and encouraging.
Have you been wanting to create your reality? Consciously – as if you were drawing a map? Then, meditation is for you. When we silence into meditation, we can connect with our heart and with our truth. And, when we become aware of our truth and what we desire, that conscious energy will flow out into the Universe, and we will be gifted with endless abundance that aligns with exactly what we want. If we are not in the driver seat of our reality, then our subconscious and unconscious mind may pop in and aspects of ourselves that are from the past may take over the wheel.
In other words, when we are meditating and consciously connecting, we can let our heart guide us and lead the way, always.
Do you feel resistance? Do you feel blocked within? Meditation and simple breathing techniques can help move energy throughout your body. Energy is constantly wanting to flow through your body, and as it flows, it connects with your Higher Self and with the Divine. Additionally, meditation and breathing can help with facilitating the flow of your energy. Sometimes, energy may get bundled up or stuck in an organ, a chakra, or even in your mind. When we allow it to flow, it connects us with higher vibrations and realities that are better aligned with our hearts. Trust it!
Yes! But, it all begins there. There are so many forms of meditation that you can find, and they all are incredible. However, meditation begins by silencing the monkey mind because it’s really all about being still with yourself. Meditation, in other words, is about spending quality time with yourself. It is about embodying your truth and your light.
As you journey and learn, do know that it is a process! Thoughts come and go, but allow them to flow! Just like a river flows with its own current, flow with your own breath. Know that sometimes rocks get in the way, and things pop up out of no-where, but you keep on flowing! And, remember, continue to take deep breaths as you breathe, and when the thoughts come…always re-center your focus on your breath.
